Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met today at Palazzo Chigi with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. After the face-to-face meeting, the Prime Minister spoke about a possible “joint production of drones” between Rome and Kyiv.
“We continue our full-spectrum support for Ukraine. Today we also discussed at length how to strengthen our cooperation on defense. Italy, in particular, is very interested in developing joint production, especially in the area of drones, a sector in which, as we know, Ukraine has in recent years become a leading nation,” Meloni said.
For his part, Zelensky said he is “working with the countries involved” on “protection from Shahed attacks and their defense.” Speaking at Palazzo Chigi, the Kyiv leader reported “significant Italian interest” in the drone cooperation program: “Giorgia Meloni and I agreed that our teams will work on the details of the program.”
