“Excellent meeting.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky summed up his more-than-hour meeting with Donald Trump. The meeting in the White House Oval Office was held behind closed doors. There were no statements before the meeting and no interactions with the press afterward. “Excellent meeting with President Trump in the Oval Office,” Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel. “We discussed with the president licenses for producing interceptors for the Patriot system and other ideas that could be useful. We also talked about diplomacy: it is important to give further impetus to the diplomatic process” to end the war with Russia.
“Our teams will agree on the details of upcoming communications. We are grateful to the United States for their strong support,” the Ukrainian president added, expressing appreciation for the commitment “to protect the lives of Ukrainians and achieve peace.” While in Washington, Zelensky will pay tribute to Senator Lindsey Graham, who recently passed away. “I offered our condolences to President Trump on Lindsey Graham’s passing. He was a true friend of Ukraine.”
