A few hours before President Donald Trump was to attend a fundraising event Tuesday evening at his Rancho Palos Verdes golf club in California, authorities announced the Sunday arrest of an armed individual who had been moving around the area. The report was published by the Los Angeles Times. County officers responded at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday after federal agents noticed a suspicious man taking photographs and observing security planning activities.

Officers detained the man, identified as Jeanine John Taele, 38, of Downey. They found a loaded magazine in his pants pocket and a loaded handgun with ammunition in his car, which was parked in the Trump National Golf Club lot. They also learned that the man was under investigation for robbery by the El Segundo Police Department.

Taele was arrested on charges of unlawful carrying of a firearm and possession of ammunition. On Monday, police and the FBI searched his home in Downey and found additional weapons. Investigators also recovered several notebooks containing “concerning statements” and two radio signaling devices.
