“Culture is, above all, our identity, but it is also an outstanding opportunity for economic growth in the country. We are developing a range of initiatives with the Ministry of Tourism,” the head of the Farnesina said, “to promote, following the example of the Sanremo Festival, Italian popular music alongside other cultural activities, including the Farnesina Collection—the largest contemporary art collection in Italy—and to promote our language. Last year we launched the first edition of the Day of the Italian Language and Culture: a way to introduce our country, foster community and generate value also from an economic standpoint.” This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, speaking in Verona on the closing day of the Conference of Directors of the Italian Cultural Institutes.
