No de-escalation and soaring tensions in the conflict between the US and Iran. On the night of Sunday, July 19, after the killing of two US service members in Jordan, the United States launched an eighth consecutive wave of strikes.
“Punish” the Iranian forces deemed responsible for the attack that killed two service members — that was the stated objective of last night’s strikes on the Islamic Republic, according to the United States Central Command (CENTCOM). The strikes targeted units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps accused of firing ballistic missiles and drones at US forces, resulting in the first US fatalities in this phase of the conflict.
Tehran said it responded by striking two US sites in Kuwait with drones — hitting the ammunition depot at Camp Udairi and the radar and surveillance systems at Ali Al Salem Air Base — and by carrying out further attacks in Jordan.
“The Great Satan — the criminal United States — has now understood that the continuation of its unchecked and dominant presence in the region is nothing but a naive fantasy,” read a post on X by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei amid the military escalation.
