No reaction to the latest attack by US President Donald Trump against Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said this, adding: “The fundamental thing is to maintain relations with a historic ally such as the United States. Relations must remain; it is important to preserve the Atlantic Alliance,” while speaking remotely at the Sky TG24 Live In event in Milan.
“I believe we should emphasize that, as has been seen, relations with the United States are unshakable and are not put into question even by these disturbances whose nature is still unclear,” Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said.
“Trump is a despicable little bully. Full solidarity with the Prime Minister.” This was written on X by Action party secretary Carlo Calenda, commenting on the meme posted by US President Donald Trump that shows an image of him with Giorgia Meloni and the words “a restraining order is needed.”
Trump’s new attack on Meloni
After recent statements, the US president again targeted the prime minister with a post on the social network Truth. The White House leader published a meme depicting the Italian prime minister “adoring” the US president. He paired the image with the phrase “a restraining order is necessary,” effectively calling for a measure against the prime minister. The post appears on the eve of the NATO summit scheduled in Ankara on July 7 and 8.
The president’s post is the latest in a series of attacks against Meloni. Trump’s criticisms began in June, after the G7 in Evian, and on several occasions he has criticized the prime minister over Italy’s alleged lack of cooperation in managing the Strait of Hormuz crisis.
