Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is willing to meet Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the G20 in Miami this December. “We must be there. We must meet, talk and make a decision,” Zelensky said. He added that the exact words exchanged with Putin are less important than the outcome. “Only the result matters. That’s all,” he told Deutsche Welle.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the Russian newspaper Izvestia that “U.S. efforts for peace in Ukraine have intensified, and Russia hopes they will bear fruit.” “We are grateful for the Americans’ continued efforts for peace, which have recently increased. We sincerely hope these efforts produce results,” Peskov said.

On trade relations with Washington, Peskov added that “Moscow sees strong interest from the business community in resuming cooperation between Russia and the United States.”

New Russian raids

Meanwhile, at least three people were killed and around twenty were injured in Russian attacks overnight across several regions of Ukraine. In Zaporizhzhia a drone struck a residential area, killing a man and a woman and wounding at least one other person. In Odesa at least 17 people were injured, including a five-month-old infant, and local authorities released images showing a multi-story residential building heavily damaged. Another person was killed and two were injured in an attack on a factory in Kryvyi Rih, in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the strikes, saying it targeted metallurgical companies in Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rih that allegedly produced material for military use. In the Odesa region, Moscow said port infrastructure and a major transport hub used to offload and store military materiel were hit.
