At least 12 people were killed and 33 others were injured overnight as a result of Russian bombardments on Kyiv and the surrounding region. Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on Telegram that the large missile strike hit residential areas and warehouses. In the Solomyanskyi district, a school and facilities of a pediatric hospital were damaged.

Kyiv regional governor Tymur Tkachenko reported that an attack in the Brovary district of Kyiv region caused one death and one injury and damaged an industrial facility. The Ukrainian Air Force had reported the presence of Russian ‘Kalibr’ missiles near the village of Kagarlyk in Kyiv region, heading toward the capital.

Poland scrambles military aircraft

Following attacks by Russian forces in Ukraine, Poland scrambled military aircraft and raised its air defense alert level, initiating “defensive air operations.” The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said on social media that the operations are focused on areas along the border with Ukraine. “Military aviation has begun operating in Polish airspace. Ground air-defense systems and radar reconnaissance have been placed on alert,” it said. The command emphasized that the measures are purely precautionary and intended to enhance security in the parts of the country most exposed to the risk of spillover from the conflict.

Moscow: “250 Ukrainian drones toward the capital”

Russia reported a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack overnight. Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that between last night and Thursday morning 250 drones were headed toward the Moscow region, and most were destroyed at a considerable distance from the capital. “Twenty-eight drones were destroyed in the Moscow region,” Sobyanin added.
