Military airstrike on Nigerian northeast market kills at least 100

Dozens, possibly hundreds, were killed in an airstrike by military forces on the Jalli Futchimiram market in northeastern Nigeria during an operation targeting Islamist groups, including the Islamic State’s West Africa Province. Amnesty International reports more than one hundred deaths, while local media cite around 200 fatalities and dozens more injured. The operation aimed at “one of the main movement corridors used by militants, a convergence point for local groups.” A military spokesperson said, “Many terrorists were neutralized in the raids, their vehicles and equipment destroyed. Survivors fled in different directions.”
